The Living Proof spokesmodel opens up about her hair washing routine and spills even more details on “The Rachel” cut
Warning: If you have been experiencing Jennifer Aniston hair fatigue, don’t read any further. But if you can never get enough details on the actress’s famous mane (you’re probably still absorbing her brunette bob), then you’ll find this post exciting, because not only does she give never-before-released scoop on “The Rachel” haircut, but it turns out her daily hair routine is similar to the average, non-famous female.
“The ‘Rachel’ was one of the hardest hairstyles to maintain,” Aniston told ABC News in a recent interview. “Me and the blow dryer and the hairbrush weren’t meant for each other. It really was a hairdo. When Chris [McMillan, her longtime stylist] would style it my hair would be great, it would look gorgeous. But then when I was left to my own devices, it wouldn’t look the same.”
But now, 10 years following the Friends finale, the star, 45, is all about keeping things simple. And by simple, we mean not washing her hair every day and even the occasional air dry. “I don’t get a lot of product build-up with Living Proof and my hair doesn’t get dirty straight away,” she said. “I wash my hair with No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner. And with PHD Styling Treatment I can air-dry and style my hair in 10 minutes, when it used to take 25 minutes.”
In addition to serving as the spokesperson for Living Proof, Aniston is also an investor in the beauty brand, which just announced the release of a new skin adhesive Neotensil, touted as “Spanx” for your face. But we don’t expect to see the actress in any commercials for the skincare launches, since she’s currently the face of Aveeno. For now, it’s all about the hair. (Though she admits to loving her low-key look on the set of Cake: “It was a relief not to have to go through the usual hair and makeup routine,” she said of the filming. “It was very liberating to be that vulnerable in such an unglamorous way.”)
Aniston appreciates the hype around her hair, but reveals that she still finds all the mane attention surprising. “It’s funny and entertaining in a way and it’s of course very flattering to say the least,” she tells ABC. “But I always have such a chuckle when I hear people saying I have great hair because as a kid it was always a challenge.”
