Candice Swanepoel on the Secret to Her Supermodel Glow at Givenchy

Backstage at Givenchy tonight, model Candice Swanepoel was looking decidedly sunny. “I walked all the way around the Tuileries today and ended up at the ferris wheel,” she said, crediting her good mood to a spin on Paris’s spectacular La Grande Roue—the 200 foot-tall ride that returned to the city’s most famous garden earlier this year. “It’s the first time I’ve done it. There was no line today because it’s so cold. I was like, yes!”

There was also, of course, the prospect of reuniting with designer and friend Riccardo Tisci for his Fall 2016 collection. “It’s always a fun show, really dramatic, and totally different from what I do.” But when it comes to her big night prep, Swanepoel says, she keeps it simple. “Paris is always a little bit drier so I use a lot more moisturizer here.” She also credits her healthy appearance to a year-round beauty-from-the-inside-out approach. “I’m not much of a juicer. It’s too acidic. I just try to keep a balanced diet—although a big breakfast always helps!” So does keeping up her yoga practice wherever she finds herself. “I’m really into it right now,” says the supermodel, who regularly posts images of herself perfecting her poses in destinations from South Africa to St. Barth’s on Instagram.

A little well-honed balance ought to come in handy tonight. Last season, Swanepoel took a tumble on the runway in Tisci’s towering spike heels, which she good-naturedly shared with her 8.2 million followers along with a caption that read “fall from grace.” As for her strategy this season? “Not to think about it!” she says adamantly, bursting into a laugh. “Fortunately, the runway seems a lot more friendly this time around—and the shoes do, too!”
