The Kardashians star Mason Disick is a Kardashians family member who’s getting tired of the spotlight, at Instagram and on the famous Keeping Up With The Kardashians spin-off. 
While he still has a bond with the family, he’s growing up and changing.
It’s possible that his mother Kourney Kardashian’s final split with Scott Disick and subsequent marriage with Travis Barker sparked his decision to retreat from the spotlight. For whatever reason, Kourtney’s opening up about why Mason isn’t featured in her recent social media posts.
Mason is currently 14 years old. He’s grown up in the spotlight. Kourtney is so into being a mother. She’s been called out for embracing the “attachment parenting” style, which is basically a rejection of strict rules, such as rigid sleep schedules for children. With attachment parenting, moms like Kourtney give their children affection and cater to them. Some people think this parenting style is too lax, including Kourtney’s sister Kim Kardashian. However, Kourtney has every right to parent how she wants to. Mason seems fine – he’s developing a strong sense of self and that’s a good sign.
Kourtney seems very happy with Travis, but children of divorce often struggle to adapt to blended families. It doesn’t mean that anyone involved is a bad person. Some kids just prefer the status quo. When it comes to moms, there are probably a lot of kids who would prefer that their mothers stay single after divorce because they don’t want to live with stepparents. However, parents’ lives must also go on.
So, Kourtney did move on and she lives with Travis. Meanwhile, Scott’s still in his eternal bachelor phase. There are rumors that Mason wants to live with Scott, and perhaps that’s because Scott doesn’t have a live-in partner. If so, Kourtney should probably let him go – he may come back later.
Mason’s getting closer to the age where he can decide what he wants to do. No matter where he lives, he’ll be loved.
Mason may also feel a little jealous because there’s a new son in the family. Travis and Kourtney’s baby Rocky Barker gets a lot of attention – babies need constant care. While Mason already has a brother, Reign Disick, the fact that Rocky has a different dad may bother him. He may feel more jealous, or perhaps because Mason’s older now, the fact that a baby is in the mix is something that he’s more sensitive to.
Around the age of 14, kids really start to change. They are teens and that means rebellion. Some rebel more wildly than others, but rebellion’s a normal part of growing up. It’s like a biological prompt that helps to push a child into adulthood and become more independent. So, Mason wanting privacy, and possibly wanting to live with Khloé Kardashian’s good buddy Scott Disick, may not be bad things at all. He’s just learning more about who he is, as most teens do.
Parents should give their kids a lot of freedom – that isn’t incompatible with love. Just letting someone be is so important. If Mason wants changes and his requests make sense, they should probably be granted. However, Kourtney adores her son and she knows all of this already. She’ll always do what’s best for him.
