Megan Fox’s Cult Clᴀssic Horror Movie Will Stream for Free in October

Megan Fox’s Jennifer’s Body has received an exciting streaming update. The comedy horror is already available on Hulu and Tubi, and will add two more streaming options, one of them for free.

As Jennifer’s Body will be available on Peacock starting Oct. 1, it will also return on Pluto TV to stream for free on the same date. Megan Fox became a household name after appearing in the first two films of the Transformers series, where she played Mikaela Banes. The same year Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen premiered, which was the second-highest-grossing film in the U.S. and fourth overall worldwide, Fox also starred in the horror Jennifer’s Body, which has since become a cult classic.

The actress played the тιтular character, Jennifer Check, a high school student possessed by a demon who kills her male classmates and eats their flesh to survive. The film also featured Amanda Seyfried as the other lead, playing her friend who tried to stop the killing spree, as well as Johnny Simmons, J. K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris, and Adam Brody. Karyn Kusama directed the film with a script by Diablo Cody.

Jennifer’s Body wasn’t a huge success, grossing only $31.6 million on a $16 million budget, which means it barely covered its investment, but it received mixed reviews from the critics. The horror currently has a 46% “rotten” score on Rotten Tomatoes, with only 35% on the Popcornmeter, which indicates the audience’s reaction, numbers that didn’t help its theatrical run. However, in the wake of the #MeToo Movement, Jennifer’s Body’s popularity increased and has since become a feminist cult classic.

Jennifer’s Body Might Get a Sequel
Screenwriter Diablo Cody addressed the impact the mixed reception had on her, noting that she loves the film. She told CinemaBlend, “I love that movie. And so for me, I knew that I wanted to capture some of the tone of that movie in this one. However, the one thing that I’ve gained over the last few years is confidence. Because when that movie came out, it shattered my confidence.”

Despite the poor reception, having more people discover and love the film built up her confidence. Diablo also shared her interest in a Jennifer’s Body sequel. “YES! I wanna do a sequel. I am not done with Jennifer’s Body. I just need to find… I need to partner with people who believe it in as much as I do and that hasn’t really happened yet. I need someone to believe in it who has a billion dollars.”

So far, there are no official plans from 20th Century Fox, which distributed the first film. Until more details about a possible Jennifer’s Body sequel come out, Fox now stars in S.K. Dale’s sci-fi thriller Subservience, where she plays an artificially intelligent robot who gains awareness and becomes hostile against the family who purchased it. The film came out on Sept. 13, 2024 on digital formats.
