Candice Swanepoel Has The Easiest Trick For Beachy Waves

Everyone knows that Victoria’s Secret Angels always have the best hair, both on and off the runway. There’s just something about those effortless, windswept waves that make us want to switch on the curling iron and give it a whirl for ourselves.

But it can take *ages* to copy said look. And more often than not you’ll end up with a) crunchy strands from all that hair product you had to use to get your curls to stay put, b) way-too-tight ringlets that rival Shirley Temple’s, or c) completely straight hair, because it was all too much when you had to rush off to work so you resorted to what you know best.

Sound familiar? Well, we come bearing good news. In a recent tutorial for Vogue US, Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel shared her trick for easily adding waves to super straight hair. And get this – it doesn’t involve any curling irons, complicated steps or tantrums.

First up, she blow-dries her locks (note: her hair already appears to be dry, so we suspect she’s added a blast of heat to help with creating and setting the curl); then she splits her hair into two sections. Next up she dives straight into revealing her genius, easy-as hack: She twists each section of hair in a tight bun on either side of her head (think Princess Leia’s famous ‘do) to form a natural-looking curl. Yep, that’s it! We told you it was the simplest beachy hair hack ever.

In the video, Candice says, “Sometimes I’ll get the curling iron out, but I don’t have time for that kind of thing these days. And I get lazy so this is kind of the lazy way to get a wave.”

Fine by us! We’re all about lazy beauty hacks.

So how long does it take for said buns to make your hair VS Angel-worthy? Well, according to the tutorial, it’ll take less than 10 minutes for your curls to set. Candice does a quick makeup routine while waiting for her hair to do its thing. When she unravels the buns to reveal soft flowing waves, she says, “You can kind of see what it does…Lazy girl’s curly hair.”

And damn! Her hair looks SO pro!

To finish, she adds a spritz of dry shampoo to her roots, confessing her love for the everyday staple: “I love dry shampoo. Thank god for dry shampoo.” WE FEEL YOU, CANDICE.

She adds, “This one gives you a little bit of volume as well.” While she doesn’t specify the exact one she’s using, we personally like Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo for adding extra oomph to your hair texture.

The final step? Standing back and admiring your work. “Not bad for not doing anything,” says Candice.
