Diablo 4 Enlists Megan Fox To Make Your In-Game Deaths Worth It

From live-action trailers to huge dynamic billboards, to an original song from Halsey, Diablo 4’s marketing campaign has been as excessive as it’s been effective, and if you thought they were done now that the game is out, you’re sorely mistaken; Megan Fox has now joined the fray, giving players a chance to have her read out their “eulogy.”

Unfortunately, not much more is explained beyond what she says in the video below. All we know is that by sharing a video of “your worst in-game [Diablo 4] death” on Twitter or TikTok (with the hashtag #DiabloDeaths), Megan Fox may just read out your “eulogy.”

It’s unclear exactly what these eulogies will be, if they’ll be videos or just voice-over, and it’s unknown how many death videos in total will be chosen. Presumably, somebody from the Activision Blizzard marketing team will write some jokes, which will be then read out by Fox, so the number of players chosen may just depend on how many videos the writers can turn into funny eulogies.

What was confirmed in the Twitter post is that the eulogies will be read out on June 8, so, if you’ve ever wanted Megan Fox to say your name (or at least your gamertag), then get to posting, as this is probably the best chance you’re ever going to get.

Though all of this marketing has likely been quite expensive for Activision Blizzard, it has clearly been effective. Diablo 4 was already an anticipated sequel in a supremely popular series. It also had a lot of good word of mouth going into it, due to reviews and beta tests. However, it may have been these marketing campaigns that helped push it over the edge to become the Blizzard game with the highest amount of launch-window sales ever.

It’s worth noting just how impressive this is, as Blizzard has developed multiple iconic games, such as Overwatch, Starcraft, and, of course, World of Warcraft. Diablo 4 is the first mainline installment in the Diablo series since 2012.
