Jennifer Aniston: How dare people ask why I don’t have children

Jennifer Aniston has hit back at accusations that she picked her TV and film career over having children.

The actress is best known for her role as Rachel Green in Friends, however she has a string of movie тιтles to her name — including some of the world’s most loved rom-coms.

Being such a big name in the film and TV industry, Jennifer has had to face headlines and rumours about her life off-screen.

Speaking about speculation around her personal life, in particular, whether or not she chose to not have children, Jennifer believes that ‘people certainly project onto you’.

‘I used to take it all very personally — the pregnancy rumours and the whole, “Oh, she chose career over kids” ᴀssumption,’ she told The Hollywood Reporter.

‘It’s like, “You have no clue what’s going with me personally, medically, why I can’t… can I have kids?” They don’t know anything.’

She went on to say that her ‘job’ was to ‘show you what I’m capable of, and you decide if you want to subscribe.’

Jennifer added that people’s need to ᴀssume things about her life was ‘hurtful’ and ‘nasty’.

The Marley and Me star previously spoke about the media discussing whether or not she was pregnant, stressing that people don’t need a partner or child to be ‘complete’.

‘The sheer amount of resources being spent right now by press trying to simply uncover whether or not I am pregnant (for the bajillionth time… but who’s counting) points to the perpetuation of this notion that women are somehow incomplete, unsuccessful, or unhappy if they’re not married with children,’ she wrote for the Huffington Post in 2016.

‘We get to decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies. That decision is ours and ours alone. Let’s make that decision for ourselves and for the young women in this world who look to us as examples.’

Jennifer continued: ‘We don’t need to be married or mothers to be complete. We get to determine our own “happily ever after” for ourselves.’
