Jennifer Aniston’s Hair Evolution, From The Rachel Hairdo to Blonde Beauty

While we swoon over Jennifer Aniston’s red-carpet fashion and her candid talk on all things confidence, there’s one thing every single person adores about her: her iconic hair.

It’s no secret that Aniston loves hair (even if she didn’t love her iconic “Rachel” hairdo), and recently, she launched her own haircare brand known as LolaVie. The Cake star revealed she created the brand not only for her pᴀssion for all things hair, but she wanted to create a brand based on creating “a product that is good for the environment, good for our hair, take out all the crappy chemicals, and have it perform,” per Allure.

Now today is a special day, for both Aniston fans and pop culture connoisseurs. Any guesses? It’s based on an iconic style moment in Friends. For those that don’t know, today is the day that 29 years ago, Aniston debuted her iconic “Rachel” bob hairdo on Friends. You know, the layered shoulder-length shaggy bob with blonde highlights that everyone still talks about today.

To honor the day “The Rachel” came into the world, let’s take a look down memory lane and see all of Aniston’s iconic hairstyles over the years. Check out Aniston’s gorgeous hair transformation from the early 1990s to now below:

Natural Brunette (1990)
When Aniston first came into the acting scene, she rocked her natural brown hair. Much to the shock of longtime fans, Aniston is a natural brunette and we’re seriously obsessed with the wispy ’90s vibes from it!

Layered Beach Waves (1994)
Once Aniston was signed on to be Rachel Green for Friends, she got a fresh new ‘do of a layered beach wave look. She even lightened her natural hair color to give a darker dirty blonde vibe.

‘The Rachel’ Comes Into Play (1995)
No list of Aniston’s hair evolution is complete without her iconic “The Rachel” haircut she rocked from 1995 to 1996. Aniston said to InStyle that she actually hated the highlighted hairdo, saying, “I got that haircut, that was like, ‘Wow, this is amazing,’ and then I was totally left with this frizzy mop on my head, because I had no idea how to do what he did.”

Lighter & More Length (1998)
Over time, Aniston let her hair grow out to a mid-length, lighter new hair color for the following years, which helped a lot when she went to experiment with different ponytails and styles.

Blunt Bob (2001)
After years with her extension-clad hair, everyone did a double take when Aniston did a total 180 with this chic, light blunt bob.

Ombre Curls (2002)
For 2002, Aniston went back to her roots by rocking a beachy wave style, along with adding subtle honey ombre!

Ponytails Galore (2006)
In the mid-2000s, Aniston rocked a darker honey look, and really played around with her ponytail looks.

Sandy Blonde (2008)
For a few years, Aniston rocked this multi-colored hairdo, mainly comprised of a sandy blonde color. She’d go lighter and darker depending on the season, but this type of blonde stayed for a very long time.

Perfectly Framed Blonde Highlights (2022)
We seriously adore Aniston’s blonde-highlighted look. It perfectly framed her face, and showed off her golden skin tone!

Back to Dirty Blonde (2023)
Most recently, for the premiere of Murder Mystery 2 in 2023, Aniston seemingly took inspiration from many old hairdos: the brown roots, the perfect framing white highlights, and the dirty blonde color throughout. We’re obsessed.
