Lily Aldridge On Being BVLGARI’s New Muse, Surviving Fashion Week And More

Last week BVLGARI announced model Lily Aldridge as the muse behind its new brand campaign, sH๏τ by the legendary pH๏τographer Mario Testino. The campaign features pH๏τographs of the gorgeous model draped in the iconic Roman jewelry house’s stunning necklaces and bracelets. I quizzed Aldridge on what it means to her to be the face of BVLGARI, what was it like to be pH๏τographed by Testino and how she survives the grueling pace of fashion week.

How did you feel when you got the BVLGARI gig?

I felt incredibly honored and privileged to represent this historic Roman jeweler. My mother is Italian and I have a deep connection to the country and its culture. To be one of the sparkling stars in the BVLGARI constellation, is a full circle moment for me. I couldn’t be happier.

Why is it such an important brand?

As an iconic and global jewelry brand, BVLGARI is larger than life and the epitome of Roman culture – glamourous, opulent, exuberant and daring. Bulgari seamlessly pairs style, imagination, heritage and outstanding craftsmanship. BVLGARI has a very distinct brand idenтιтy and has remained true to its roots while setting international trends and speaking to today’s modern woman.

What was the most luxurious piece you tried on? How did it make you feel?

Definitely BVLGARI’s Serpenti necklace. I have had my eyes on it for a long time. This piece of jewelry is pure elegance and sophistication to me. It made me feel exquisite.

What was it like being sH๏τ by Mario Testino?

Mario makes me feel so beautiful, shooting with him is for me not just an honor but also a great pleasure as we always have the best time together. He has the most amazing energy and the capability to transmit it to the entire crew. When I look to the result of his work, I can see he discovered a new facet about me, something very secret that he was able to capture and disclose with his camera. This makes me feel special.

What are your fashion week survival tips?

Lots of water! Stay hydrated and try to get as much sleep as possible.
