I travel
Every week. I travel all the time for work. And when Im not working, I love planning vacations and traveling the world and bringing my daughter with me, and teaching her different cultures and seeing different places around the world. Its just a part of who I amI love to travel.
I never travel without
Really comfortable scarves, because I like to get cozy on the plane since they can get so cold. And then when you land, if youre in an exotic or tropical place, you can use them as sarongs. I like to travel as compact as possible and really think about what Im packing, because I like to carry-on most of the time, soscarves are great to use as a two-for-one.
“I always bring my iPad with me and stock up on as many movies, music, and TV shows possible. I just watched The Night Manager, which was fabulousI couldnt stop watching it on my flight. And Im reading a great book right now called E-Squared.
“I just bought a new Tumi carry-on and it is so amazing. I actually YouTubed it beforehand, because I research everythingI buy, especially for travel. This woman had a thousand things on her bed and she rolled it all up and put it in her little Tumi suitcase and I was like, ‘Im sold.’And I got it, and I can literally fit so muchits a game changer.
Shooting the Wonderlust campaign was
So incredible. It was in Antigua with Mario Testino, and Michael [Kors] was there. We just had the best timeit was so much fun, and so magical. We were all on a yacht and it was just very Michael Korsvery glamorous.
My favorite moment from the shoot was
We were on the yacht, and all of a sudden hundreds of white ʙuттerflies just surrounded usthey came into the boat, and they were circling usit was the most magical things Ive ever seen in my entire life. You can kind of see it in the behind the scenes. It was spectacular.
My travel beauty essentials are
Those little water bottle sprayswhether its rosewater or one of those Evian misters; theyre really great for when youre on the airplane. And a good face mask, and a great lip balm. I always travel with Epsom salts because when I get somewhere after being on a plane for a long time, I can take a nice Epsom salt bath. I think fragrance is so important. Having one in your purse for when you get off a long journeyits something you can do to feel a little bit more glamorous, a little bit more alive. When you get off an airplane you dont always feel your best, and thats something that makes you feel good instantly.
My tips for looking (and feeling) fresh after a long flight are
I do masks in-flight. I always have those little Klorane under-eye patches that I just think are so fabulous, and usually an hour before landing Ill put them on and apologize to the stewardesses for scaring them when they see me. Those are really, really good onesthey work, theyre just amazing. I always have some in my purse or wallet or somewhere. And I always do a little touch up when were landingits a great way to pᴀss time as youre landing since you have to turn off all of your electronics. And then those little things, like a spritz of perfume to feel a bit fresher when you land.
My go-to travel look is
Either a low-bun or easy, loose waves. And Im all about mascara, highlighter, bronze skin, and a natural lip.
The best trip Ive taken this year was
Greece with Michael Korsit was pretty spectacular. It was such an amazing group of people that we had there, and we had so much funit was just a magical trip. We stayed at the Amanzoe, which was spectacular.
To stay fit on-the-go, I
Place a bath mat down and do Ballet Beautiful or pilates or yoga. Im very blessed to have my trainer who works out with me via Facetime, but once you get your routine down you can do it in your H๏τel room. Ive used water bottles from H๏τel rooms as weights for my arms and do little lifts. When we were in Greece promoting Wonderlust, Id go swimming every day. If working out is a part of your lifestyle, you just kind of make it workwhatever you can do.
Traveling with a young child is
All about being prepared. I always have treats and games for Dixie [Aldridges daughter]. Ill download a new educational app for the planeI just try to keep her as occupied as possible and have as many things in my luggage that I can entertain her with.
Whenever I go on a beach vacation, I
Pack a different ʙικιɴι for each day. Because when youre at the beach, thats all you wear, so its kind of your look for the day. I love just a triangle top and a string bottom. I think its classic and you cant go wrong.
The trip Im most excited for this year is
My daughter and I are both bargaining with my husband [Kings of Leon singer Caleb Followill] about Disney World, so hopefully well be going there!
