We Found the Trick to Lily Aldridge’s Bed-Head Hair, No Heat Tools Required

Oh, hey, look—it’s Lily Aldridge looking as collected as a Grecian statue, even as she’s swarmed by personal-space-invading paparazzi. Sure, the air of cool could be from her impossibly opaque sunglᴀsses, or her “this old thing?” T-shirt that’s just like the one you own (it’s not), or even the fact that she’s, you know, a supermodel, but my money is on her hair. Her effortless, bed-head-y hair. And I can say effortless, because I got the lowdown on how Aldridge likes to style her waves, and there are no heat tools involved, ladies and gentlemen.

“Lily’s go-to hair is a supereasy and natural texture,” says Aldridge’s longtime hairstylist/BFF, Bryce Scarlett. “She tucks her damp hair behind her ears while it air-dries, so she gets those bended pieces around her face.” So pretty much how you did your hair until middle school.

Of course, it’s not just water and air—there are some products helping to make the magic happen. First, give your waves a little grip by raking a golf-ball-size puff of volumizing mousse (try) through damp hair, then lightly spritz your ends with a sea-salt spray, like Not Your Mother’s Beach Baby Spray, to get a piecey texture. If your hair tends to hang limp and straight, split it into four sections and periodically twist each damp piece away from your face until it dries. The result: effortless Aldridge waves (that, you know, still required some work). Voilà!
