When Candice Swanepoel talks about being a mother, we listen. And talk she has, giving an interview to British Vogue about the ups and downs (but mostly ups) of being a new mum.
“I think once you become a mum, it shifts, and you see everybody differently,” she says, describing how appearing in Gap’s latest campaign with son Anacã was totally different from any other job.
“It was definitely a different dynamic on set to what I’m used to! He’s actually so good and I think we’ve taken so many pictures of him since he was born that he’s actually quite used to the camera. It was a definite shift because I was thinking about him instead of myself.”
Aside from modelling as a duo, Swanepoel says being a mother has even altered her taste in films.
“I can’t watch movies, or even commercials, where kids are in any kind of danger now,” she says. “The last two movies I watched were Lion and Mama, with Penelope Cruz, and I mean, just bawling on the couch. Oh my god, they are both so beautiful but you just won’t get through it.”
Us too, Candice.
