In May 2020, fans were stunned when pH๏τos of Megan Fox cozying up to Machine Gun Kelly had surfaced on the internet, mainly because fans were under the impression she was still married to her husband, Brian Austin Green, with whom she tied the knot back in 2010.
In a statement given by the Beverly Hills, 90210 actor, he confirmed that he and Megan had, indeed, parted ways, which cleared up the rumor that his wife was cheating on him behind his back. But from Brian’s own words, the pair had already called it quits before Megan started a relationship with MGK, which consequently meant they were divorcing.
But this isn’t the first time that Megan had filed legal papers to divorce Brian: In 2015, she filed the paperwork and cited “irreconcilable differences” for the breakup, but that was before she found out she was expecting their third child, Journey.
Why Did Megan Fox Wait Before Divorcing Brian Austin Green?
As previously mentioned, Megan had previously filed for divorce back in August 2015, with sources claiming that the pair simply weren’t seeing eye-to-eye anymore.
And while the pair were committed to sticking together and working through their differences, things had gotten to a point where Megan realized her relationship with Brian wasn’t going to get any better, consequently resulting in her decision to pull the plug.
But during the divorce process, the mother of three later found out she was pregnant with their son, Journey, and for the sake of their family, Megan was determined to keep her marriage intact, which led her to call off the divorce.
An insider told E! News that finding out about her pregnancy appeared to have done wonders for the couple as they were both on the same page in wanting to give their relationship another chance. Things had been rocky for months, but the news of Megan’s bundle of joy changed things drastically.
“This pregnancy was not planned, but when they found out they were extremely happy.
They are working really hard to be together and one unit—not only for their children, but also for each other. They are looking forward to the arrival of their new baby.”
And while there appeared to be some doubt that Brian was the father (considering the pair were headed for divorce at the time), a source confirmed to People that there was no doubt for the ex-couple on who the dad was, saying: “Of course Brian is the dad! They never stopped loving each other and they will never stop being devoted parents to their boys.”
But in May 2020, things had certainly changed when doting pH๏τos of Megan and Machine Gun Kelly surfaced.
Many ᴀssumed that the Transformers star was cheating on her husband, and since she opted not to speak on her private life, the ex-couple were quick to leave the press demanding for answers.
But that very same month, Brian came forward and shared on his podcast, …With Brian Austin Green, that him and Megan had broken up and gone their separate ways.
And while there was no mention of a divorce, it’s evident that legal paperwork would be filed soon on Megan’s behalf.
Megan, who met MGK on the set of their movie, Midnight in the Switchgrᴀss, told her estranged husband how much happier she was when they weren’t together, which he recalled in his podcast episode тιтled “Context.”
“She said, ‘I realized when I was out of the country working alone that I feel more like myself and I liked myself better during that experience and I think that might be something worth trying for me.’
“I was shocked and I was upset about it but I can’t be upset at her because she didn’t ask to feel that way. It wasn’t a choice she made, that’s the way she honestly felt. We talked about it a little more and said let’s separate for a bit… and so we did.”
And it seems that the separation has led to a full-on relationship for Megan, who has been with MGK ever since their public outing in May.
While Brian struggled to accept the fact that his wife of ten years appears to have moved on, he’s slowly but surely come around and realized that the chances of reconciling with Megan are second to none at this point.
Still, the two have managed to sustain a healthy relationship for the sake of their three children: Noah, Bodhi, and Journey.
“As far as a family, what we’ve built is really cool and it’s really special,” he added. “So we decided let’s make sure that we don’t lose that. Let’s make sure that we’re always friends with each other and we’re a united front with the kids. We’ll do family vacations and holidays with the family and really make that a focus with the kids.”
