Kourtney Kardashian admits she “cries every year” on her daughter’s birthday. The Kardashians star takes to social media this July as Penelope Disick celebrates turning 12 years old. The reality TV star’s ex, Scott Disick, also takes to the internet to share some sweet words on their daughter’s special day.
Kourtney Kardashian has some of her Instagram followers confused by her birthday post. Sharing a video of Penelope Disick in her younger years, Kourtney explains how she gets emotional every year her daughter “turns older.” Many comment on the Lemme founder’s post to agree kids “grow up so fast,” but others aren’t so into the throwback.
Kourtney ‘cries every year’
Penelope Disick turns 12 on July 8, 2024. The second-born child of Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian, P is the only girl of her siblings. She’s the middle child between Mason Disick, 14, and Reign Disick, 9.
Her parents take to Instagram on her birthday to share some heartfelt words. As Kourtney writes she “cries every year” her daughter “turns older,” Scott says “words could never describe” how much she means to him.
Kourtney recycles a post from last year which reads:
“I am in awe of her every day. I couldn’t imagine being more proud to be her mommy. I can’t believe she’s 11 years old…it is so bittersweet. I cry every year on her birthday when she turns older, sad that it’s going by so fast, and so joyous of what a wonderful little lady she is. Happy birthday my sweet Penelope.”
Thankfully, Kourt isn’t crying tears of sadness, but explains her mixed emotions when it comes to her kids growing up.

On her 12th birthday, Penelope also has her dad, Scott, taking to the ‘gram.
He writes:
“Happy birthday 2 my little girl who isn’t that little anymore. Words could never describe how much u mean 2 me.”
Her aunt, Kim Kardashian, also shares a fan account of a collage of pH๏τos and writes “Happy Birthday P.”
The snaps see Kim and Penelope posing together, as well as some featuring Kim’s daughter, North West.
Penelope’s grandmother, Kris Jenner, dedicated a post to her as she turns 12.
Kris has some kind words for her granddaughter, writing: “…Watching you grow into the smart, kind, funny, creative, amazing young lady you are today has been one of my greatest joys. I am so proud of you, P! You are such an amazing sister, daughter, granddaughter, friend, cousin and niece. You light up every room with your smile and fill our hearts with so much love. May your day be filled with joy, laughter, and all your favorite things. I love you to the moon and back! Lovey xo.”
Khloé Kardashian is in the post’s comments writing: “P is the most special soul.”
